Before you start building your website, you need a place for it to live. An address; a home; a plot of land. Your own small slice of the massive internet. That’s where a domain comes in. YourNameHere.com Once you’ve purchased a domain, as long as you continue to pay the (modest) yearly registration fee, you own it forever. No one can take it from you. That’s a major advantage in this transitory internet world. And you can point it to whatever website you currently operate.
The origins of that one are a bit fuzzy in my memory, to be honest. I think we were talking about movie monsters, and I said something about what if one was a giant horse instead of a lizard or a moth or an ape.
I own thelineisadot.com, which comes from my favorite joke on "Friends."
I also own jilleikenberryforever.com, which I intended to make into a Jill Eikenberry (Ann Kelsey from "L.A. Law") fan site.
Giant horse -- ha! Like, would you rather be attacked by 100 duck-sized horses or one horse-sized duck?
Both sound really bad. But for some reason the tiny horses are giving me nightmares.
Damn, I was hoping to hear the backstory of godzillahorse.com. Maybe your next post??
