I feel like we're at a point similar to the one from, say, 1993-95 when EVERYONE knew this internet thing was going to be a game changer, but people were stuck arguing about whether or not you could do traditional media things with it, like ads. That got settled pretty quick.
I agree that it's an inflection point. Personally it reminds me of the rise of desktop publishing, where people said "This is the end of design!" But it wasn't. It was just another tool. So is this. And just like then, the people who can adapt and use the tool well are the people who will succeed.
