“Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid.”
-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
This quote inspired the name of the newsletter you are reading for a lot of reasons.
First, as I’ve spoken about quite a bit around here, I’m a severe introvert. Taking bold action is difficult for me. I have done it a few times. But mainly I need major inspiration to do what needs to be done. So the “bold” part of the quote is meant for both you and me.
Which leads to the “mighty forces” part.
Time and again, in my research and in talking with people in the field, I have found examples of how great things happen when people take action. Here are examples of some of those mighty forces:
When you're bold, you attract people who are willing to help you. People are drawn to confidence and enthusiasm. They're more likely to want to help someone who has a positive attitude and a clear vision for their future.
When you're bold, you create opportunities for yourself. When you're not afraid to take risks and put yourself out there, you're opening yourself up to new possibilities. You may meet someone who can give you a job lead, or you may discover a new career path that you never considered before.
When you're bold, you build momentum. The more you take action, the more confident you'll become. The more confident you become, the more likely you are to achieve your goals.
These are tough lessons. When you’re older and facing an ocean of rejection, it can seem insurmountable to put on a bold, confident face every day and chase down that next opportunity.
But again, the truth is that I’m writing this newsletter for both of us. For me, because it reminds me again and again that if you don’t show up, nothing changes. One of my bold actions is writing this newsletter, week in and week out. If I’ve helped just one person, inspired one person, made one person feel less alone, it will have been worth it.
For you, I hope this newsletter helps you look at the challenges you face in a new way. I hope it’s entertaining and something that you look forward to receiving and reading.
See you next week!

Well stated, Adam. Just yesterday, checking out a new local restaurant, I decided to be bold and tell the owner how much I liked not only the food, but the design and furnishings. He responded with an engaging story that sounded perfect for my radio show, so I interviewed him on the spot. He was delighted, and I had tomorrow's topic.
Steve Earle once said (paraphrasing): You have to push the boundaries back as far as possible. Otherwise, they close in on you, and eventually you find your one foot gets nailed down and all you can do is go in circles."
