The elephant in the room of this newsletter on job hunting after 50 is that throughout writing it, I have been unsuccessful in getting anyone to hire me.
That irony is not lost on me.
Still, I have had a blast writing Mighty Forces. One of the best aspects has been the people it has allowed me to meet and have fascinating conversations with. It has also kept me writing every week, and given me structure during a difficult time.
As for you, I hope it has helped you, or at least entertained you.
But the time has come to move on.
This will be the last issue of Mighty Forces, at least in this current incarnation. Thank you to all the readers, and especially the people who have bought subscriptions to support my efforts.
I have turned off subscriptions, so you won't be charged further if you signed up for a monthly plan.
If you have enjoyed my writing, please continue to follow me on Medium, where I write about many different topics, mostly memoir and pop culture stuff.
You can subscribe to get notified about my new Medium articles, which would increase my reach and mean a lot to me.
If you ever want to contact me, you can email me directly: 8ball@lucky8ball.com
For now, I want to focus on actual job hunting efforts for myself. If you know anyone who needs expert writing and editing, please let me know.
Thanks again so much to everyone reading this.
Onward and upward.
-Adam.
Love your writing and passion, Adam. It takes a while to confront the reality of ageism and our "senior status," basically that no one wants an old guy hanging around the office, and I wasted considerable time and money before I came to terms with the fact. Maybe talk about "life after office work" when you've had a chance to reorient. Keep well.
I know you put your heart into this. I've subscribed to your Medium account and look forward to seeing more of your writing there.
